Getting Around

Bus Services & Getting Around Broome

Whether you're hopping between Cable Beach and Chinatown or heading up to Derby, here's what you need to know about getting around Broome by bus.

Timetables, fares and services change seasonally and on public holidays. Always check directly with the operator before you travel.

Local Public Buses — Transbroome

Transbroome is Broome's Regional Town Bus Service (RTBS), operated by Transregional WA. It's the main way to get around town without a car — connecting the town centre, Cable Beach, Chinatown and key residential areas along Route 890.

Route

Route 890 is the primary service, linking Broome's main areas including the town centre, Chinatown, Cable Beach and surrounding suburbs. No bookings required — just board and pay.

How to pay

You can pay by SmartRider (reusable travel card), contactless bank card or digital wallet, or cash. Note that drivers cannot give change for cash fares, so bring the exact amount if paying cash.

Accessibility

All Transbroome buses are fully accessible — low-floor designs, kerb-kneeling capability and built-in ramps for wheelchairs, prams and mobility devices. Each bus has space for two wheelchairs or prams. Note that not every bus stop on the network is accessible.

Trip planning

The free Transperth app (iOS and Android) can help you plan your journey and check real-time information.
