Broome Staircase to the Moon 2025

The Staircase to the Moon is a stunning natural event that occurs when a full moon rises over the exposed tidal flats of Roebuck Bay. This phenomenon happens 2 to 3 times a month, from March to October.

The Town Beach precinct offers a fantastic vantage point for viewing the Staircase to the Moon. Another popular spot is The Mangrove Hotel Resort, which often hosts live entertainment on Staircase nights. Other great viewing locations include the Broome Golf Club, the Roebuck Bay lookout, or a short walk across the road from Matso's Broome.

The Staircase to the Moon Markets at Town Beach (Hamersley Street) run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on select dates. At the markets, you can sample local produce, purchase handmade goods, enjoy international cuisine, and listen to live performances by local entertainers.
